3/23 Warhammer 40,000 Gladiator Format tournament

Post by LordSapphon on Thu Mar 21, 2013 2:19 pm

Hey everyone,

Just a friendly reminder that this Saturday we will be hosting Jay's Gladiator format tournament for Warhammer 40,000! It starts at noon and $15 is the entry fee. Hope to see all of you there!!!

Gladiator

The Format:

In the Gladiator format, things are a little bit different than a normal format. The players’ Force Organizations are slightly different. There are two parts: the Core list, and the two Optional lists.

The Core List:

The Core List is a list that is composed for 1250pts worth of models. The minimum requirements for this list are that you must include at least 1 HQ choice in the list (which must be your army’s Warlord), and you must include at least 1 Troop choice. Other than that, normal rules apply.

The Optional Lists:

The Optional Lists are two separate lists each of which are 750pts worth of models. There are no minimum requirements to the Optional Lists, except that, when combined with the Core list, they cannot allow you to exceed 2000pts and they cannot take you above your maximum limits on specific types of units (2 HQs, 6 troops, 3 fast attacks, 3 elites, and 3 heavy supports). Note that in this format, there is no double force organization. Allies are still allowed, and can be split up between your Core and Optional lists, but they must still meet their normal requirements and limits.

The Game:

At the start of each match, you and your opponent must show each other your Core list (not any Optional lists!). Then, based on this decision, you must choose one of your two Optional Lists. Now you combine these two lists into a single list and use this in your match against your opponent. Once you and your opponent both decide on their combined lists, you then both reveal which optional list you selected (so your opponent knows what he’s up against). In effect, the optional lists should be used to allow you to prepare for certain match-ups (i.e. lots of anti-vehicles for mech-heavy lists, lots of templates for horde armies, etc).

Mission and Deployment:

The missions and deployment will be set each round. They are as follows:

1. Deployment: Diagonal deployment. Mission: Big Guns Never Tire

2. Deployment: Short table-edges. Mission: The Relic

3. Deployment: Long table-edges. Mission: Purge the Alien

Points:

Points will be normal based on objectives. There is 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. Record how many secondary objectives you received each round, as these will be used to determine tie breakers.
